How to Remove Food Stains From Your Carpet

Even though you would love for your carpet to stay in pristine condition, with never a single discolored thread or tear, life does happen. And quickly! If you discover a food stain on your carpet, here’s the best way to get rid of it, and make sure no further damage occurs.

STEP 1: VACUUM THE AREA

The first things you should do are examine the stain to see how far reaching it is, and then vacuum the area, so that no lingering dirt escapes. Once this is done, you can move on to the actual removal process.

STEP 2: TRY WARM WATER

Try working with just warm water. Gently dab with a washcloth to lift the stain from the rug. Oftentimes, the water alone can remove a large part of the blotch.

STEP 3: TRY A COMBINATION OF WATER AND VINEGAR

If you find that water is insufficient to eliminate the spot, a couple other options would be to add a little soap that is safe for your fabric to the water, or you could also try a water and vinegar solution. Incorporate three amounts cold water with one amount white vinegar in a bowl to form this concoction.

Generally, one of these will get the job done. However, if you have an incredibly stubborn stain that needs to be erased, or you are not sure what would be damaging to the fabric, Green Carpet Brooklyn is always happy to advise you on the best course of action. We care about maintaining your carpet’s beauty, and we know how to keep it looking it’s best.
